My experiences, thoughts and their expression: mi vida

This evening, walking into a local tavern for a light Sunday dinner with close friends, came across a small truck with multiple bumper stickers. Several were the usual ads, the common slogans, political preferences, etc. But there were a couple that cracked us up. Added to the bumper stickers, the humor and ingenuity of Ms. K, in creating a backdrop for them, was even more hilarious than the stickers themselves. A sample...: One bumper sticker read: " Jesus would slap the !@#$%^ out of you! " ( word related to 'fecal matter', not really nice to write out ). Of course, we read that and we cracked up! It has  sense of irreverence, maybe even of sarcasm, especially were one to put it in a context of extreme religious fundamentalism! What a condemnable statement, in that scenario! After the initial 'schock' of the reading, and the nervous smiles, maybe even laughs, the good friend added: " It is missing a question ". "Yes?", I asked. T...

My 'learning' - hopefully! - for the day, goes like this...: "When you are choosing a new life for yourself, you are bound to smack into the habits and pitfalls of your old life. Make a game or dharma joust out of whatever you need to exercise. I define dharma as " what you do with what's been done to you . ...If you're stuck in people-pleaser gear and someone asks you, "Hey, could you please write for our...because you are such a good writer?" it's a great dharma joust to reply "No, thanks. I am busy." When you feel that old buzz of "I have to do____, ", take a moment to engage with that. What does it take for you to say, "No, I'm not going to obey that today"? And then, she adds the 'kicker': " It can be tremendously energizing to disobey the conditioning with which you were raised. Recognize when a pattern doesn't serve you anymore and put it in a context that's more exciting...ally...
