2012 November, Elections
Whatever your, our, political preferences are, one thing is standing crisply clear for me, and maybe also for you. And that is, that these elections are, and will be, a historically critical moment in time in which the expression of the majority of this nation (including those that are allowed to vote and were able to make it to the polling booth despite an increasingly aggressive voter suppression barrage of legislation by rabid (R) lawmakers) will choose sides in the discussion of opposite beliefs: the capitalist, individualistic, exceptional-istic nation's "American dream", versus that of the continually expanding diverse sector which holds a growing awareness of its heretofore sound and safe society and who see it now splitting among the few "have's" and the many "have-nots", who view society as a life which is shared and mutually supportive of each other.Independently of the political preference of those that vote this November, the reality that huge changes are underway that will modify the United States life, its views, values, policies and functionality. Capitalism in its form as we know it is not working, and undermines life as we know it; it has tainted democracy to its momentary hospital bed, gravely ill and in need for ER - IC attention.
Will it take the next 50 years to clear the air? Less, maybe? This is a stage of radical, deep change. It is the "storming" phase of group dynamics. A huge realignment is on its way and proceeding to a new "norming" stage. Of that I am sure, and have faith on. It is the evolution mechanism at work. Present life 'style' is not sustainable in multiple dimensions, not only in terms of "political party elections to power, and life goes on". NO; take any criteria, and dig out its truth. Here is an example: short adbusters video
What lies ahead is scary and painful, and will demand personal sacrifice, learning, letting go and adaptation to a new way of life. There will be stages in between, but those are not to be seen as "we've arrived"; they are transitional, ushering us/U.S. (and the world) into a new, and hopefully still whole life on Earth.
I share this link of this morning's "Up with Chris Hayes'" show, which opens with a commentary around this critical-ity. I invite you to watch the introduction. I think this young man is opening paths for social and political awareness. Genial!
