Quote...on Suffering...

"This was a wonderful moment. Suffering is created by wanting things to be other than they are. It's that simple. As soon as we relax into how they are - as soon as we stop the War With Reality - happiness and sweetness begin to subtly arise, dusting our insides not with craving and aversion, but with equanimity. This miracle can happen even in the midst of the most difficult of human vicissitudes." p.108, 9

You know that as I read this, the inner voice says "of course!" The little child within recognizes the crying state when it does not get or think he is not getting what he wants. And that awareness is neat.

But the one that blew my mind...that is a 'simile', btw, is that happiness and sweetness are there when one stops the war...WWR. The War With Reality.  (WWR...Sounds like an inner growl, doesn't it?) So that, we have peace underlying everything! We just need to stop roughing up the waters, making waves of noise and disturbance. relaxing into life...as it is.

Hmmmm.

I'll work on that...
