Steve Jobs: How to live before you die | Video on TED.com

Saying goodby and thanks!, to a man I have admired quietly and softly, his presence in the background of my life, and today, in hearing this talk given in 2005 at a Standford University Commencement, not only did tears well up, but the reason/s for my admiration became more crystallized.

In his humble demeanor, and in his soft description of his early life's painful beginnings (given away...?!), he captured my respect for him once again. Looking at my beloved Mac I once in a while thought of him and his team that put this beaut together, and sent him my admiration; today, he had it full.

This was a man that did not 'follow the current'. Yes, he 'floated' on it, and established a tributary when it was time for that 'water' to break new ground. He had that wisdom, and that inner sense of creativity. Maybe based on a deep inner faith in his intuition and sense of "if it's to be...". a genius that saw the meaning and importance of the "space within the letters", as he studied calligraphy. The space, not the materiality of it. That chose to study that "old stuff" (my quote and bias!), and later used it to develop a thing of great beauty and comfort: "my" Mac. (and that of millions, too!).

Yes, sir: we are rushing to death, every second of the day. I heard your call: "are you ready?", are you "living to the fullest"?, am I working on that which I'd work on the last moments of my life?" Whoa!

Let me start.

Thank you for all you have given me, Mr. Steve Jobs.

PS: Your last name happens to contain the initials of my name...Hmmm. I like that.
