Similarities : The US Declaration of Independence to...Puerto Rico!


Taking from the US Declaration of Independence dtd. July 4, 1776, link here, and
some of its parts and pieces which bring to mind the parallels of its origination 'seeds' to the present 'roots' of maladies and troubles manifesting presently in Puerto Rico, 240 years later.

The reader is invited to discover linkages of the two situations - 1776 and 2016 - and to know that these chosen here hold characteristics that seem, appear, most similar, yet do not advocate for any particular aggression or separation forces, but intend to simply and plainly highlight the similarities to the PR experiences in the last 118 years.

…He (a reference to King of Great Britain, in the comparison - Governors, Officials appointed, and presently the US Congress) has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

...He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures. He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people….
